چکیده

In this report intercellular material in developing cartilage and between reaggregating cartilage cells has been examined with lanthanum staining (3, 7, 13, 16) . The proteinpolysaccharides of cartilage have been extensively studied by biochemical methods (2, 8-10, 18-21), and proteinpolysaccharide extracted from cartilage has been shown to precipitate with lanthanum (2) . The lanthanum-staining properties of normal developing cartilage were compared with those of tissue which had been treated enzymatically . In addition, lanthanum staining of early and late reaggregates was compared. These studies showed that (a) lanthanum staining is characteristically associated with what are believed to be proteinpolysaccharide components of the developing matrix, (b) the matrix as revealed by lanthanum is formed early in reaggregation, and (c) there is a change in the morphology of the matrix as aggregates mature .

A Fibrillar Intercellular Material between Reaggregating Embryonic Chick Cells

Lanthanum staining of embryonic chick cell reaggregates reveals an intercellular material composed of fibrils. Fibrillar arrays may be composed of parallel fibrils with a 35 A center-to-center spacing. Fibrils may also be disoriented, long, and tortuous. Newly dissociated cells show little lanthanum staining surface material, but appreciable amounts are present after 6 hr of reaggregation. Exam...

High Quality of Infant Chondrocytes in Comparison with Adult Chondrocytes for Cartilage Tissue Engineering

BACKGROUND Tissue engineering is used for the treatment of many diseases, and the ideal cell source for cartilage tissue engineering is chondrocytes. The main limitation of chondrocyte is the low number of cells in cartilage tissue engineering. This study investigated a suitable cell source with high proliferation rate to obtain a large number of chondrocytes. METHODS Adult cartilage t...

Co-Culture of Mesenchymal Stem Cells with Mature Chondrocytes: Producing Cartilage Construct for Application in Cartilage Regeneration

Background: Cell-based treatment approach using differentiated mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) and mature chondrocytes has been considered as an advanced treatment for cartilage repair. We investigated the differentiated level of these two cell types that is crucial for their repair capacity for cartilage defect at a co-culture micro mass system. Methods: Passaged-2 MSCs isolated from the mouse b...

Study of Differentiation Potential of the Dedifferentiated Chondrocytes From Rat Articular Cartilage into Skeletal Cell Lineages

Purpose: Dedifferentiation of the chondrocyte from rat articular cartilage with multiple subcultures and study of the redifferentiation potential of the cells into bone, cartilage and fat cell lineages. Materials and Methods: In this experimental study, chondrocytes from rat articular cartilage were isolated and expanded through several successive subcultures during which the expression levels ...
